Lagos, January 17, 2011 – As Dana Air celebrates one year of successful flight operations to the Land of Promise – Akwa Ibom state, the Chief Executive Officer, Jacky Hathiramani, has commended the Government and People of the state for their warm reception since the airline had its first commercial flight to Uyo on January 18, 2010.
Addressing newsmen in Lagos, Hathiramani disclosed that the decision to extend its services to Uyo has proved to be very rewarding for the airline, thanks to the immense support it has enjoyed from the Akpabio-led State Government and the continued patronage of all its esteemed guests.
In his words, “The commitment of the Akwa Ibom State Government to creating prosperity, developing infrastructure and providing a secured gate way world for the people of Akwa Ibom State, and our determination to fly to key destinations across the federation has ensured that our Uyo operation is a success.”

Only recently, Dr. Akpabio put the total number of passengers airlifted in and out of Akwa Ibom International Airport in 2010 at 138,000. Dana Air accounted for 72 per cent of this figure, with a total passenger load of 99, 360 on the Lagos-Uyo-Lagos and Uyo-Abuja-Uyo routes.
At present, Dana Air operates one daily flight from Lagos to Uyo at 8.55am with a return flight from Uyo to Lagos at 1:53pm. The airline also offers daily flights from Uyo to Abuja at 10:35am with a return trip to Uyo at 12:06pm.
